Notts Derby Horse ShowMay 8th 2016
It's always been a dream for a child to receive a pony for her birthday, so imagine my surprise when I woke up on the morning of my 5th birthday in January 2001 to lots of new riding clothes and a pony waiting for me at the stables. That feeling has stuck with me ever since and whenever I see a little boy or girl with their pony, I know exactly how they are feeling! Since the age of 16 I've always had a passion for photography but I never pursued it. I studied TV and Film Production, then followed my family's heart and worked on a showing and hunting yard for a year in 2014. But what I really wanted to do was pick up a camera and capture the moments for other people. That was when I followed my heart, rather than doing what everyone else wanted me to do. Since I've started up my photography, I've been asked to do equestrian events, weddings and a smattering of other events - and Sunday 8th May was my first official event, working alongside my very own Mum who runs the Notts Derby Horse Show. The day was fantastic, 27 degrees, the sun beaming down on everyone, and it was the perfect day. Though some were left slightly sunburnt (me!) - others non stop complimented the effort everyone was putting in. It was a 6am wakeup, an 8:30am start and a 6pm finish and I was significantly sunburnt, but being the designated photographer, it was definitely a day to remember. I was even joined by my friend Elaine and her granddaughter, Jessica. I must give a huge shoutout to my very own Mum, Emma, for putting her heart into this event and making all 6 shows amazing days to remember, and I thank her for giving me the opportunity to pursue what I've always felt in my heart. |
